East Lynne Theater Company celebrates the American Spirit on Stage! And the ever-growing audience from New Jersey and beyond continue to lavish praise and support for one of the most unique theaters in the country.
Recently, this company was the recipient of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance's "Achievement of Excellence Award" for "30 years of celebrating America's heritage through productions and educational programs."
Founded in 1980, this nonprofit theater was the first one in the country dedicated to producing American Stage Classics. In 1996, Ohio State University honored ELTC by asking to house the company's archives at its "Jerome Laurence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute." The title "East Lynne" is derived from a famous American play that was seen throughout the country during the last half of the 1800s.
ELTC takes pride in providing theater-goers, actors, and directors, alike, the experience of seeing and working on plays by American Masters. The company of professional actors, directors, and designers work together throughout the year to produce quality theater not seen anywhere else.
ELTC gives voice to the current generation of playwrights by yearly producing a World or NJ Premiere based on American theater or literature. Several ELTC premieres have gone on to other stages.
ELTC's artist-in-residence programs and summer theater workshops teach students acting, playwriting, and production, focusing on American history and literature. The company's touring shows travel throughout the country.
During the Cape May 2010 Performing Season, the company is in residence at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St.
ELTC continues its popular Dinner/Show and B&B/Show Packages with area restaurants and B&Bs. For information on the season, touring productions, educational outreach, and to make reservations, call 609-884-5898 or online at http://www.eastlynntheater.org.
